The Riverwalk Board of Directors has approved the hiring of Ms. Cora Stepp as the new Principal of Riverwalk Academy. Riverwalk Academy is a public charter school with open enrollment for all students in Rock Hill, York and surrounding areas. Riverwalk is a project based learning school serving students in grades K-7 adding one grade per year through the 12th grade.
Stepp, who has spent the past two years as an Assistant Principal and Interim Principal at Riverwalk Academy, will become the second Principal of Riverwalk Academy, which was founded in 2013. The Board is appreciative of Ms. Stepp’s efforts throughout this transition to maintain our administrative cohesiveness and stability.
A graduate of Converse College (South Carolina), Stepp earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education and then continued her education there to earn a Master's Degree in Elementary Education. In 2012, Stepp earned her Master's Degree in Administration and Leadership from the University of Phoenix. She joined the South Carolina Public Charter School District in 2014 as a Director of Curriculum and Instruction at High Point Academy in Spartanburg and then later, as the Middle School Assistant Principal at Riverwalk Academy. Her varied background has given her widespread knowledge about the needs of a Principal in a Charter school. Her experience with our Project Based Learning Model and her immense experience with a variety of leadership responsibilities are valuable to our school.
In 2004, she began her career as a teacher in Cleveland County Schools, in North Carolina and then continued her work in Cherokee County Schools. Stepp then moved into administration after she completed her Master’s program in Administration and Leadership in 2014. We are delighted to welcome Ms. Stepp as Principal of Riverwalk Academy. Please join us in welcoming her.
