Boosterton Fun Run

Boosterton.png

We are thrilled about this year’s Boosterthon program!

This year, our entire school is raising funds for a new sports field! Our goal is to raise $30,000 and we need YOUR help!

Here’s how you can support Riverwalk Academy:

  • Register your student on funrun.com using this code: 427-258. Once you do, your student will receive a FREE GIFT just for being registered. Then, use funrun.com to log pledges for your child.
  • Reach out to sponsors. Every student’s goal is to connect with 10 sponsors. And with funrun.com’s smart sharing features, reaching out to sponsors is easier than ever. The easiest way to get pledges is to simply click the Facebook share button on your student’s pledge page. Plus, with a few clicks you can create a custom Student Star video to share on social media. You can also use the Easy Emailer to connect with friends and family. As you gather pledges, be sure to record each sponsor’s e-mail address so they have the opportunity to easily pay for your student’s pledge online via credit card.
  • Ask your child about the Castle Quest Character Lesson of the day! This year’s character program is Castle Quest, a castle theme all about bravery. On their quest to regain Bravemore Castle, students will learn the “SIX VIRTUES of a TRUE HERO” from a cast of colorful characters. Join along by watching the fun character videos with your child on funrun.com.
  • Come to the Fun Run on August 31st! All students are included in the Fun Run, regardless of financial participation. Remember, students will be running 30-35 laps, and the middle school will be participating in a color run! We would love for you to come out and cheer!

Hours for Riverwalk Fun Run are as follows:

  • 8:15 am (K-2nd)
  • 9:30 am (3rd-5th)
  • 10:45 am (6th-8th)

Thank you for supporting our school. We hope to see you next week at the Fun Run!

1/2 Day for Solar Eclipse

1/2 Day for Solar Eclipse

Dear Riverwalk Academy Families,

As you all are aware, we will be having our first total solar eclipse since 1979 on August 21, 2017. This eclipse will occur at approximately 2:40 PM in our area. During this event, the moon will move in between the Earth and the Sun, causing darkness to fall upon the area. In an effort to keep parents from having to choose between sending their children to school or allowing them to remain home to experience this event with family, Riverwalk Academy will be dismissing at 11:30 AM on August 21, 2017. This will allow ample time for safe travels to pick up your child(ren) from school and return home prior to the eclipse taking place. This will also allow our staff to gather with their loved ones to take part in this historical event. Several other school districts, including Rock Hill School District, will also be dismissing early on this day.

Our PBL Coach, Ms. Lauren Wilson, is planning several educational activities to gear our students up for the eclipse. We are very excited about this event and about the wonderful things planned for this school year.

We look forward to seeing you in August!

New Board Members Announced

Dear Parents, Friends and Community Partners of Riverwalk Academy,

The Board of Directors will be hosting an election to fill two open slots on the Riverwalk Academy Board. The Board is sincerely thankful for all of the parent support and excitement as our teachers and students are finishing final products of their learning this year. Further, taking time to reflect on their accomplishments this year.

As we move towards the school year ahead (2017-2018), it is important that we all understand the role of our Board and how to serve if you feel called. As a Charter School, Riverwalk Academy has its own governing board comprised of school parents, grandparents, community members, business individuals and educators - as selected by the school's parents and staff. These board members oversee the MISSION of the school, ensuring that the integrity of the charter is maintained.

As a member of the South Carolina Charter School Alliance, they support us in maintaining and meeting our Charter. The Riverwalk Academy Charter requires us to host the live Board Application until 5 pm on Wednesday, May 31st, due to the Memorial Day holiday.

We welcome all interested to apply. In order to apply, one must complete the online application. The South Carolina Charter School Alliance directs, gathers, and sets the timeline, according to our charter for this process. The application is available at this web link: https://pcsasc.memberclicks.net/index.php?option=com_mc&view=mc&mcid=form_239250

Once all applications have been reviewed, the online election will be held from 8:00 a.m. on June 6th and will close at 5 p.m. on June 7th. It is important that as we move forward, that each of you review all individuals interested in serving so that our Board can move forward with people who have skills to help us achieve our mission.

Elected Individuals will be introduced and inducted at the June meeting. This meeting is scheduled forJune 12th at 7:00 p.m.
