Greetings,

Your school counselors are excited about the opportunity to work in collaboration with students, faculty, staff, and administration at Riverwalk Academy! We love our school counseling role and are committed to helping your child succeed.

Here at Riverwalk, school counselors are responsible for a variety of roles, including (but not limited to):

  • Providing direct counseling services to students individually, in small groups, or large group instruction

  • Providing education and support services to parents

  • Providing consultation services to teachers

  • Facilitating referrals to community support services

  • Advising students on academic planning and career guidance, including:

    • Helping parents and students understand standardized test scores

    • Working with parents and students to ensure understanding of the academic requirements for high school

    • Assisting students with IGP (Individual Graduation Plan)

  • Conducting Attendance Early Warning Conferences As Needed

  • Conducting the annual required teacher training sessions

Please do not hesitate to either call or email if you wish for us to speak with your child. Additionally, there may be a time when we talk with your child due to a self-referral, student referral, teacher/staff referral, agency referral, or administrative referral.

We have an open-door policy for our students and are immediately available to meet with any student in a crisis. However, we do not attempt to interrupt core academic classes for non-emergency situations.

Know that our counseling offices are a safe space where ALL students are welcome.

Regards,

RA School Counselors
