Tiffany Hudson Student Services Coordinator thudson@riverwalkacademy.com From the beginning of grade school, I either wanted to join the Air Force like my dad or become a teacher. Over the years, my teachers created some of the greatest impacts in my life, becoming my security and home away from home. As I continued through school, I held onto my aspirations of becoming a teacher and being a beacon of hope and inspiration for my future students. In 2009, I graduated from Winthrop University with my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. Since then, I have taught at two charter schools, with a 5 year span as a stay at home mom. Even during my time as a stay at home mom, teaching continued to be a passion for me: I assisted, taught or substituted with pre-school through high school. While at Riverwalk, I have been blessed to teach both 3rd and 4th grade. I am currently working towards an Add On Certification for Learning Disabilities. As I grow professionally, I will continue to embrace my goal of being an advocate for our students.

Rachel Cranford rcranford@riverwalkacademy.com Hello! My name is Rachel Cranford. This will be my 8th year teaching and my second year at Riverwalk Academy. I am truly looking forward to exploring 5th grade with your children! I grew up in Clover, SC and attended Clemson University (Go TIGERS!) where I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. I love using technology as a tool in education and studied this in my Masters program. Currently, I live in Rock Hill with my husband Daniel and our awesome dog Mason. What I enjoy most about teaching is showing kids a world outside themselves through reading and exploring subjects they may not normally think about as well as seeing students’ epiphanies or “light bulb moments” when something challenging finally clicks for them. When I’m not at school, I enjoy reading, traveling, making music, cooking, and chasing waterfalls while camping and hiking with my family. (Interesting fact about me: In 2015, I left teaching to move to Uganda to work with a non-profit called Sole Hope. My picture is of me at the wedding ceremony of a dear friend in Uganda wearing the traditional dress of that region, called a gomesi.)

Middle School Teachers

Courtney McGrath cmcgrath@riverwalkacademy.com  I graduated from Winthrop University in 2015 with a BA in English Literature and a minor in Medieval Studies. I graduated from Winthrop again in 2016 with my MAT focused in Secondary Education. I am an active member in the National Council for Teachers of English, and truly believe that any learner can be a reader if only given the right book at the right time. I have spent time living abroad, and in different parts of the U.S as well. When I am not being Ms. McGrath I enjoy reading, going to the beach, playing Nintendo games, and watching the New England Patriots with my family. I most enjoy studying the Medieval, Elizabethan, and Young Adult Literature. While I enjoy helping students develop a love of literature, what I most enjoy about teaching is helping students learn more about themselves and helping them grow as people.

Jennifer Pickens jpickens@riverwalkacademy.com I graduated from Anderson University in 2011 with a degree in Secondary Math Education and am certified to teach 6th-12th grade math. I especially enjoy teaching Algebra by bringing real-life applications of math into the classroom through project based learning and frequent engaging activities. My favorite part of teaching is helping students who may not love math yet, or are currently struggling in math, to bring them to grade level while watching them grow to love learning. I am also very eager to integrate technology in the classroom. I love being around positive and energizing people and encourage students to cultivate the same positive environment in our classroom. I love traveling, cooking, Clemson football, and spending time with friends and family when I'm not in the classroom.

Catherine Griffith Art cgriffith@riverwalkacademy.com My name is Catherine Griffith and I am very excited to be teaching Art at Riverwalk! I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Winthrop University and have over 10 years experience in the education field. I am originally from Spartanburg, SC but moved to Lake Wylie where I happily reside with my family. I am married to my best friend, Brian, and we have 3 amazing children – Lauren, William and Grace. We also have an adorable maltipoo named Bella. I spend most of my free time with my family, as I try to enjoy every minute I can (since my kids are growing up way too fast!) I also like to travel, paint, teach art lessons and relax at the beach! I can’t imagine doing anything else for a living that does not include children. It is an honor and blessing to be a part of a child’s education. I love watching each student blossom and grow in their artistic abilities throughout the school year. My hope is that each child will find their inner artist and enjoy expressing themselves and creating Art!
