Riverwalk Academy was one of two schools in South Carolina to receive the 2022 - 2023 Sportsmanship Banner from the SC High School League (SCHSL).
During the 2023 South Carolina Athletic Administrators Association (SCAAA) Spring Conference, SCHSL Commissioner Jerome Singleton made the announcement that two schools in SC earned this banner. Commissioner Singleton presented Richard Ball, Secondary Principal and Athletic Director, with the 2022 - 2023 banner with the Excellence in Sportsmanship.
“I am proud of the work by our athletes, coaches and parents. This award demonstrates the character of those involved in our athletic program and is a foundation to building successful citizens.” said Mr. Ball, Secondary Principal and Athletic Director.
The requirements for the Excellence in Sportsmanship Award are:
Field a varsity team in the Fall, Winter, and Spring seasons
Participate in a minimum of 4 Community Service Activities, one of which is participating in the state-wide living clean week
Participate in the Student-Captain's Course for each competitive season
Participating in a school level Sportsmanship Program
Attendance of all four Student Summits
No Athlete Ejections during the school year
No Coach Ejection during the school year
No sportsmanship issues or sanctions of fans or students at any contest
