Riverwalk Academy students posted strong improvements on both SC READY and End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP) assessments administered last spring, according to results released by the South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE).

Head of School Dr. Robert Compton said, “At Riverwalk Academy, we are guided by a commitment to authentic, rigorous, and project-based learning that challenges and supports each student. These test results reflect the collective effort of our passionate teachers, staff, families, and students. While we celebrate the gains already achieved, we remain focused on ensuring every student continues to progress toward the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate—with Pride in Every Step.”

SC READY Results (3rd–8th Grade)

At the schoolwide level, Riverwalk Academy demonstrated growth in both English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics:

ELA – Increased by 6.6 percentage points, with more students meeting or exceeding expectations from 2024 to 2025

Math – Improved slightly, up 1.5 percentage points between 2024 and 2025

End-of-Course Examination Program (EOCEP)

Riverwalk Academy high school students also demonstrated mixed but promising results on EOCEP exams:

Algebra 1 – Mean score declined slightly (–2.6 points)

Biology 1 – Passing improved from 61.3% in 2024 to 70.6% in 2025 (+9.3 points)

English 2 – Passing held steady, with 95% of students scoring D or higher in both years

U.S. History and the Constitution – Passing jumped from 34.5% in 2024 to 56.4% in 2025 (+21.9 points)
