Riverwalk Academy Recognized as Silver Recipient by SC Department of Education

Riverwalk Academy is proud to announce that we have been named a Silver Recipient by the South Carolina Department of Education. This recognition reflects the dedication, collaboration, and perseverance of our students, staff, and families in pursuit of academic excellence and continuous growth.

Commitment to Excellence

The Silver distinction highlights measurable improvements in student outcomes, particularly in achievement and growth, and affirms our commitment to ensuring that every student thrives. This accomplishment underscores what we often call The Riverwalk Way: the belief that high expectations, strong relationships, and engaging, real-world learning experiences make a lasting difference.

"Being named a Silver Recipient is a celebration of what we can achieve together. It reflects the commitment of our students, staff, and families, and reminds us that when we work as one, every student can reach their full potential." – Ms. Erica McCray, Elementary Principal

Recognizing NIET’s Partnership

While this honor belongs to the entire Riverwalk community, we also recognize the important role played by the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching (NIET). Over the past several years, NIET has partnered with our teachers and leadership team to provide coaching, professional development, and structures that help us focus on what matters most: excellent instruction and student growth.

Their expertise in helping schools implement effective teaching practices has empowered our staff to collaborate more deeply, refine instructional strategies, and maintain a strong focus on student success. We are grateful for their partnership and for the positive impact it continues to have in our classrooms.

"Dr. Compton and the Riverwalk Instructional Leadership Team are dedicated to providing the support teachers need to thrive. NIET is proud to partner with Riverwalk Academy, leveraging research-based strategies, tools, and ongoing support to elevate academic excellence and provide all students the opportunities for success." – Dr. Josh Barnett, NIET CEO

Pride in Every Step

This recognition is not the finish line but a milestone on our journey. We remain committed to building on this progress and finding new ways to strengthen student learning. Our theme this year, Pride in Every Step, reminds us that every success, large or small, contributes to the collective achievements of our school family.

We are deeply thankful for our teachers’ dedication, our families’ trust, and our students’ hard work. Together, we will continue to take steps that move Riverwalk Academy forward.
