Joining Riverwalk Academy’s administrative team this fall will be Ms. Dwana Tillman and Mr. Richard Ball.
Ms. Tillman, who has an impressive resume with years of experience in education and PBL (Project-Based Learning) instruction, will assume her new role as assistant principal for instruction for Riverwalk Academy in July. Her main focus will be supporting our K - 9th grade teachers and overseeing our school’s assessment and teacher evaluation programs. Tillman joined Riverwalk Academy in 2014 and has served as an elementary teacher, a teacher evaluator, and a mentor for new teachers at Riverwalk Academy.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the College of Charleston, SC and her Master of Education in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.
“Our Leadership Team at Riverwalk Academy is thrilled to have Ms. Tillman in this role as she will be such a valuable asset to our team. She has previous experience in an Assistant Principal role and is prepared to handle administrative, staff training, and student disciplinary duties.” said Ms. McCray, Elementary Principal.
Mr. Ball, a former principal and administrator from York School District 1 and Gaston County Schools, will be joining Riverwalk Academy in July to serve as the administrator for our immersive dual enrollment program that is located at York Technical College.
“I am excited about the opportunity to serve the Riverwalk Academy community. I look forward to working with the students, teachers and parents of Riverwalk as we provide authentic learning experiences that prepare students to succeed in academics, athletics and the arts,” said Mr. Ball.
“I’m thrilled that Mr. Ball will be joining us as our high school administrator for our students in 10th - 12th grade. He’s a servant leader who believes strongly in the power of building relationships with our students and their families. It’s these qualities, along with his experience that makes him a perfect fit to transition into our innovative program that we have established with York Technical College,” said Dr. Compton, Riverwalk Academy’s Head of School.
