The South Carolina Department of Education invites parents and guardians to share their feedback to ensure families have a voice in their children’s education and to support state accountability requirements.
The 2026 Parent and Guardian School Climate Survey is now available in Parent Portal under the Forms tab.
We encourage you to complete the survey by March 27, 2026. Each parent or guardian may submit one survey per student.
Your input truly matters. Survey results help guide decision-making at the school and state levels and are included in each school’s annual report card. The Parent Climate Survey is anonymous and confidential and takes approximately 10–15 minutes to complete.
If you are not registered for Parent Portal, please contact Ms. Mabey, who will be happy to assist you.

We want to share an update regarding school operations for tomorrow.
Due to lingering icy conditions on some neighborhood and secondary roads, Riverwalk Academy will operate on a two-hour delay tomorrow. This delay will allow additional daylight and time for temperatures to rise, helping to improve travel conditions for our students, families, and staff.

School Start Time
K–8: 10:00 am. (drop-off begins at 9:25 am)
Middle School: report to your 1st block class
High School: 10:30 am
Report to your 1st block class
AM Lions Pride: Begins at 8:30 am
Afternoon Activities: Will proceed as scheduled
As always, student and staff safety remains our top priority. We encourage everyone to exercise sound judgment and care when traveling in your area. If you have specific concerns or needs, please reach out to your building administration, as we will work with families to support individual circumstances.

I want to share an update regarding school operations for Tuesday.
While many of the main roads in our area are clear, we continue to have concerns about untreated neighborhood and back roads, particularly with temperatures expected to drop overnight. These conditions increase the risk of refreezing, which can create hazardous driving conditions early in the morning, especially for student drivers, families, and staff traveling from multiple directions.
Out of an abundance of caution, and with safety as our top priority, Riverwalk Academy will operate on an eLearning Day on Tuesday.
Our team did spend several hours on campus clearing and preparing sidewalks and driveways so that we are ready for a safe return as soon as conditions allow.
We recognize that decisions like this can create challenges, and we truly appreciate your understanding and partnership as we prioritize the safety of our entire school community. We look forward to welcoming everyone back to campus as soon as it is safe to do so.

Due to this weekend’s record snowfall and the resulting unsafe driving conditions, Riverwalk Academy will operate on an eLearning Day on Monday, February 2.
In preparation, our teachers sent assignments home with students on Friday. For middle and high school students, those assignments will also be posted in Google Classroom by 9:00 a.m. on Monday. As a reminder, students will have up to five days to complete and submit their work. Teachers will be available throughout the day to support students as needed.
