Today, we honor Juneteenth — a powerful reminder of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing journey toward equality. On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas finally received word that they were free.
At Riverwalk Academy, we believe in the importance of recognizing history, embracing diversity, and educating hearts and minds. Let today be a moment of reflection, learning, and celebration of the strength and contributions of Black Americans throughout history and today.

Riverwalk Academy is thrilled to recognize and congratulate a group of outstanding Junior and Senior students who have successfully completed college-level programs at York Technical College, earning associate degrees and professional certificates—all before their high school graduation.
A special round of applause goes to the following students for earning their University Studies Certificates:
Carter Fisk, Leah Davis, Heidi Kipper, Gavin Lewis, Nancy Onessi, Lillie Peleponuk, Tiffani Smalls (11th grade), and Zoa Trammel. These students have laid a strong academic foundation for their future college endeavors.
Students who earned the Manufacturing Fundamentals Certificate, showcasing skills critical to the modern workforce, include:
Tristan Baionno, Irie Farrand, Jackson Herring, and Zane Langston (11th grade).
Several seniors also completed Associate Degrees while still in high school:
Mara Bobek (Associate of Arts), Walter Krashner (Associate of Arts), Wyatt Krashner (Associate of Science), Jaxon Scarbrough (Associate of Science), Levi Staton (Associate of Arts), and Austin Thurman (Associate of Arts).
These achievements are a testament to the dedication, hard work, and resilience of Riverwalk Academy’s students, as well as the support of faculty, family, and the partnership with York Technical College.
Riverwalk Academy is proud to celebrate this remarkable York Tech Class of 2025 and looks forward to seeing the bright futures they will build. Congratulations to all!

📣 We’re excited to host Vocational Rehabilitation Night with the SC Vocational Rehabilitation Department on May 14th from 5:00–6:00 PM in the Upper School MPR at Riverwalk Academy!
Families will have the chance to learn about FREE services for youth (13–21) and adults with disabilities — including job training, coaching, employment help, and more.
